The Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania implemented this action in coordination with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Latvia.

Action implemented in the framework of the Mobility Partnership between the European Union and Moldova

Led by the Ministry of Interior of Lithuania in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova and the Ministry of Inte-rior of Latvia, this 8 month Action sought to enhance Moldovan capacities to fight and neutralise criminal networks while en-suring effective law enforcement cooperation in fight against Trafficking in Human Beings (THB). A holistic set of activities were implemented, gathering a wide range of organisations ac-tive in the fight against THB, including NGOs and non-traditional stakeholders such as religious organisations.

Activities

Component 1: 41 officers and specialists from Moldova participated in a 2 day-training

This activity improved the national institutional framework in Moldova to address THB and national anti-trafficking policy planning.

Component 2: Training on best EU and international practices related to cooperation with NGOs and non-traditional stakeholders

Through this activity, a 2-day training was organised for Moldovan practitioners to strengthen partnerships with NGOs and non-tra-ditional stakeholders in assisting victims of THB. 

Component 3: Study visit to Lithuania, Italy and Portugal enhanced international cooperation in action against THB

A delegation of 12 participants from different authorities had the opportunity to learn more about inter-institutional cooperation mechanisms as well as cooperation with civil society organisations during a study tour to Italy, Lithuania and Portugal. This activity resulted in establishing an informal network of counter-trafficking practitioners in several EU countries.

Component 4: Training on victim identification, investigation and prosecution as well as international cooperation against THB

This activity targeted 24 officers from law enforcement institutions and enhanced their capacity to better identify THB crimes, col-lect evidence from different sources and prosecute traffickers.
