Activities

Capacity-building on border management

Specialists from the State Border Guard Service of Lithuania will develop guidelines on document examination, counterfeiting and forgery of travel documents and searching of transport means. Lithuanian specialists will then hold targeted training sessions for the benefit of the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova. Training sessions and expert workshops will take place in both Lithuania and Moldova.

Transfer of knowledge and support to transnational cooperation

As part of the activities aimed at reinforcing border control, the staff of the Moldovan Border Police will also participate in two study visits to forensic laboratories in Lithuania and Poland. This will provide an opportunity to exchange experiences and acquire best practices, as well as to strengthen cooperation against cross-border crimes and irregular migration in the Eastern European region.

Equipping the mobile forensic laboratory and forensic experts' workstations

In order to improve the technical capacities of the Moldovan Border Police for crime prevention and preparedness to respond to border incidents related to the fraudulent use of travel documents, based on EU standards and the Schengen acquis, the action will allow the purchase of a mobile forensic laboratory and its required equipment, in compliance with ISO 17025:2017, for the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova. Practical training sessions on the proper use and maintenance of such equipment will be organised for the benefit of the Moldovan counterparts.
