The Migration Management Diploma Programme (MMDP) is a capacity building initiative implemented by the Maastricht Graduate School of Governance (MGSoG). Activities

Inception and Deployment

The MMDP will train up to 40 civil servants and policy practitioners working in the area of migration.  Country-analyses and the identification of tailored candidate profiles during the inception phase will allow to target participants who are best positioned within their national governance systems to support dialogue between the EU and partner countries, as well as other priority countries that may amplify or benefit from the development impacts of migration.

Capacity Building

The MMDP training curriculum addresses all the central tenets of the EU migration cooperation frameworks: better organisation of legal migration, preventing and combatting irregular migration and trafficking in human beings, maximising the development impact of migration, and promoting international protection. Furthermore, the MMDP supports participants in assessing their own policy systems according to common standards and methodologies and integrating evidence-based research into national dialogues, policy design and migration governance frameworks.

Operational Exchanges

To enhance peer-to peer exchange and mutual learning, the MMDP offers a holistic incorporation of migration into different policy arenas using an interactive and cross-sectoral teaching approach. Exchange and collaboration among participants will be strongly encouraged during the programme through group work and participant-led learning to create networks and knowledge for intra-agency coordination.
